The ache subsided,
The sobs quietened,
Breathing light and heart stitched back.
What remained was bitterness
That the tears left behind.
Those friends got lost,
Some left, some forgot,
Away from eyes, erased from mind.
What remained was the void in air,
That clouds of their laughter once occupied.
The facts changed,
The notebooks disappeared,
The blackboards erased and benches got rust
What remained was childhood,
Trapped forever in chalk dust.
