“Dreaming of Love” – Nayana Nair

If we were not here,
if we were not conveniently together,
but lived in places far apart
with only a bleak memory,
our companion,
the proof of our time together.
If we could not hear
each other’s voice everyday
but carry each other’s whispers
in the folds of our skin.
Do you think
we could have known each other better?
Do you think
we could have loved better,
By being far away?

vvefeffer

These arms that ache
by holding each other tighly,
in some other time,
in some other place,
may have yearned for a mere touch.
In that world,
I imagine myself
sitting in my backyard.
Looking at the never ending rows
of trees that I cannot name.
And wonder if our separation
will be as long as the life of these trees.
Will these silent friends of mine, these trees,
in this lifetime
know my happiness to have found you at last
as they have known my long wait?
I feel in some other world,
we exist like that,
our love exists like that.
I feel they must be dreaming of love
that we have right now.

Lovely words, “carry each other’s whispers in the folds of our skin” gave me goosebumps. I loved the images to go with it too. Thanks for sharing

Thank you πŸ™‚ even I love those lines (it is very rare for me to love something I have written πŸ™‚ ) I am glad you liked the poem πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€

      I love those words too!

      1. Nayana Nair says:

Me too! They are too good to be written by me πŸ™‚ I wonder how I came up with that πŸ™‚ he he πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€

      2. yuhublogger says:

Oh! Come on. Give yourself some credit πŸ™‚

      3. Nayana Nair says:

He he πŸ™‚ Issues of having low confidence I guess. Can’t help it. No matter what I write, no matter how it is received. In my mind there is a voice that tells me that I can never write good enough 😦 That I am deceiving myself in believing that I can be/ am good at this. πŸ™‚
But I am thankful that you liked my poem πŸ™‚ and maybe that will keep me motivated to write at least one more line.
        Thanks a lot πŸ™‚

I feel the same way about me too. I’m too judgmental of myself. As long as my writing carries the emotion I feel, I’m OK with my writing. Of course, there is always room to improve.

      5. Nayana Nair says:

Same pinch πŸ™‚ he he. I hope one day this voice won’t haunt us, or even if it does, I hope it makes us better. πŸ™‚

      6. yuhublogger says:

        Absolutely! Cheers!

I do like anime. But I have not seen much. πŸ™‚ there is lot that I have yet to see.
This pic is from an anime ‘La Corda’ . liked it a lot. That’s why.
Last anime I watched was Death Note’. Right now I am watching ‘Bleach’ and ‘FairyTail’ simultaneously. (As you can see, I am pretty new to it….But I love whatever I have seen. ) Anime is really awesome.
      Which is your favourite anime?

      1. aleashaa says:

Death note is like my kind of thriller. clannad, lovely complex, school rumble, attack on titans, elfen lied.try them you will love it. That pic is cool.I think I have to watch La Corda. πŸ™‚

      2. Nayana Nair says:

Thank you for suggestions… I will surely watch them πŸ™‚ Thanks a lot. πŸ™‚
La Corda’ doesn’t have a complex storyline of anything but it is about music and I love the characters and music in it. You can try it out . πŸ™‚ I hope you like it. πŸ™‚

in the second stanza, you wrote ‘were’ instead of ‘we’. How beautiful is it that it is the same stanza that has the boldest imagery. I loved this poem so much

    1. Nayana Nair says:

Thanks for pointing that out πŸ™‚ I have corrected that typo.
I am so glad you liked my poem πŸ™‚ Thanks a lot πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€

      1. george agak says:

The poem is lovely. It’s love in itself.

Hearing that makes me so happy πŸ™‚ Thank you πŸ™‚

      3. george agak says:

I’m envious, believe me. you have a way to weave words in vivid images that make your poems living things

      4. Nayana Nair says:

Thank you for that compliment πŸ™‚ It gives me little confidence in my writing (Confidence is something I desperately need πŸ™‚ ) Thanks a lot for your kind words. πŸ™‚
