“Image of You” – Nayana Nair

I don’t want to cry.
It feels the more I cry,
the more I loose you.
What if I run out of tears?
What if I run out of things to remember?
How real can you remain
when the last image of you I recall
would be from another memory.

About Nayana Nair

Hi, I am Nayana Nair. I'm 25. Just a crazy girl who has tons of things to talk about....not much organized thoughts sadly. I like to talk about everything...mostly..every conversation of mine turns into a monologue.... So I decided I should start writing a blog..rather than chat.... I'm very much passionate about music, psychology and literature.... Moderate interest in science..... I always want to be a writer (and also a teacher)..But I don't think I have the skills required...this blog is just my attempt at becoming the writer I always wanted to be...Blogging for few years, I have realized I am more of a poet (although, I am not sure that I am good enough for that label)...I hope I realize more about myself through writing. Thanks for dropping by!! Hope I didn't disappoint. :)

  1. will run out things to memory unless it’s deleted,
do you how to delete memory by time?
I struggle to erase them and move on,
let me know how’s that possible?

    • I am not talking about deleting memory…what I am talking about is what people call forgetting.
With time we do forget things and as more time passes, the more bleaker our memory gets.
Sometimes the things we remember, we don not remember them as we actually experienced them. Most of the times they are recollection of a memory itself. It is similar making copies of a copy, and in that we do sometimes forget what the original thing was. This is not a fact or anything. It is just the way I think.
To give an example: let’s say in my childhood, I may have done something funny. till a year my friends and family, even me would have talked about it. as time went on it’s mention reduces, but still it is mentioned. At this point of time I do not remember being in that situation. I just remember people or me recalling it. (I am not sure if I am explaining this correctly 😦 )

      • oh yea.. this is what I wanted to mean in the last line…time is really eraser of the memory and it’s just fades away our memories but not the facts and somewhere it will be inside our head always what do you think?

    • another way to look at this would be :

” just as you can’t step in the same river twice, your memories are changed by the act of recalling them, meaning that every memory we have is colored by the times we’ve recollected it before.”

  2. reminds me of a scene from P.S I love you when she realises that it’s almost a year since he has been dead and her memory of him is fading, she only has the letters to recollect him, powerful words here.

    • Yeah, that was one sweet movie. Loved it. Now that you say, the poem does go well with the movie πŸ™‚
(My most favorite dialogue from that movie was “I want to be someone’s Gerry”. There were many other good dialogues, but this is the first one that comes to my mind when I think of that movie)

  3. WOW.. so deep and thoughtful..!! A really profound post.. must say.. πŸ˜‡πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
