“That’s how it is sometimes–
God comes to your window,
all bright light and black wings,
and you’re just too tired to open it.”

Hi,
I am Nayana Nair. I'm 28. Just a person who has tons of things to talk about....not much organized thoughts sadly.
I'm interested in all forms of storytelling (though I don't have the talent for it). So I like series, movies, novels, anime, and whatnot. I'm also really passionate about music, psychology, learning languages (I just dream big, too undisciplined to makes any actual progress) and literature. I am overall just a curious person who is interested in all kinds of things, as long as they suit my taste.
I always wanted to be a writer (and also a teacher)..But I don't think I have the skills required...this blog is just my attempt at becoming the writer I always wanted to be...Blogging for few years, I have realized I am more of a poet (although, I am not sure that I am good enough for that label)...I hope I realize more about myself through writing.
Thanks for dropping by!! Hope I didn't disappoint. :)

He will get in anyway.
That’s so beautiful and true. 🙂
dammmnn, dorianna is a true genius isnt she. i absolutely looovved the girl in the dooryway. that did things to me. and moon in the window. perhaps the best poet i have ever encountered on the internet
I know dear, totally agree with you. She writes so beautiful. My favorite poems by her so far by her have been Family Stories and Blossom. I will look up the poems that you have suggested. I admit I have not read as much of her work as I want to, as her books are still in ‘to-read’ list (a list that now is ridiculously long). So thanks a lot for the suggestion. What are your other favorite poets or poems? I feel we have same tastes in poem, so looking forward to more suggestions from you 🙂 😀
i will read those books as well. unfortunately, i cant find her books anywhere. maybe its cause i live in pakistan which doesnt have a lot of books shops. i dont know. its devastating cause thats most probably the only author whoose every single poem is pure magic. i am very critical of poetry.

share you favs as well with me. i would LOOVE to know.
also, if u find the time to read them, tell me which ones u like and dont
Thanks a lot dear, for all the suggestions. Can’t wait to read them all. I have read bits of Bukowski and I have liked all that I have read of his work. I have read one poem of Ellen Bass, that one poem is something that is still in my mind “Gate C22” – such a beautiful and heartfelt poem. Others I am excited to read. But it will probably take a little time before I get around to that. But will let you know as soon as I read them.
My favs in poetry are a bit difficult to list, since I read more of fiction prose than poetry. I do read poems but my reading is not that organized, I just have list of poems that I like and not necessarily list of poets. But mostly in modern poetry I have read lot from Lang Leav (https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/7012565.Lang_Leav) and Tyler Knott Gregson (https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/7075956.Tyler_Knott_Gregson). I especially like his facebook page where his poems are written or typed in bits of random paper – https://www.facebook.com/TylerKnottGregson/ (I so want to buy a book of his).
Other than that I guess a poet whose works I have read a lot is Lord Byron. I have a diary full of every line by him that I have read and loved. The first poem that I had read of him was “The Tear” (https://itrainsinmyheart.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/the-tear-by-lord-byron/), it made me fall in love with his writing. Another beautiful poem of his is “Thou art dead, as young and fair”.
Apart from that I also like poems by Dorothy Parker. Some poems of her that I can recall are “Landscape”, “A fairly sad tale”. (I think I have posted them somewhere on my blog). There are many others but they are all written in a diary somewhere.
Rumi is also one of my favourites. He is one poet whose work I have read a lot and still reading.
I also love reading translated korean poems. Not all, but sometimes I do end up finding something so priceless. Here are some of them:
“A Consistent Life” (https://atroubledbison.tumblr.com/post/167454171310/a-consistent-life)
“Lips, Before a Dead Flower Tree” (https://atroubledbison.tumblr.com/post/185776227737/lips-before-a-dead-flower-tree)
“Guleumchi Bus Station” (https://atroubledbison.tumblr.com/post/186405070874/guleumchi-bus-station)
Since I think I am going overboard by listing so much, I will stop here. Let me know if you like anything that I suggested 🙂
Have a nice day dear. Once again thank you for taking your time to suggest the poems that you did. 😀
